Cante de las Minas International Festival – August

The Festival is held in La Unión, about 10 Kms. from Cartagena, in the old Market, now called “La Catedral del Cante”.

It began and continues to be the Flamenco memory of its legendary mining. Those miner songs are now commemorated to keep this valuable tradition.

In almost half a century since it was first held in 1961, it has become very prestigious and important, not only among those who understand the Flamenco world, but among thousands of people who come to visit moved by the cultural relevance it implies.  

The structure of the event is based on nights of Flamenco soirées, contests and galas, in addition to Flamenco colloquiums and get-togethers.
